Sam Ward

Sam has been a professional recording engineer since 2011 working in the greater NYC area in classical music production until relocating to the bay area in 2019.

Sam studied classical and jazz performance, music theory and composition at the University of Tennessee and has been an active bass player since 2006 in all kinds of ensembles from orchestras, jazz combos, big bands, pit orchestras for musical theater and country-bluegrass bands.

Sam co-founded a record label Affetto Recordings in 2014 with international distribution. He has produced, engineered, mixed and mastered 25 titles so far for Affetto and produced and engineered recordings for many other labels including Naxos USA, Naxos UK, Parma, Navona, Delos, Utrecht, Westminster, and many others. His recordings have been Grammy nominated for best choral performance, Latin Grammy nominated for best Tango performance, won a World Music Gold Medal for Album of the year and received rave reviews in the American Record Guide, Gramophone Magazine, Choral Journal, The New York Times, Guardian newspaper and many others
